Chances in need-aware admition

Hi guys,

I am an international applicant and I am writing on the topic of need-blind/aware admission process. Specifically I want to ask about Colby College, University of Pennsylvania and Syracuse University. I know they are need-aware and my question is what are my chances for being admitted and receiving an almost full financial aid (by that I mean a sum, covering all of my education minus campus work or basically some minor contribution that I can make on my own). Keeping in mind that I can now afford maybe 1/2 of the tuition for the first year (and that's a bit of a stretch), while my GPA and SAT scores are high - that is enough for admittance if I could afford it. I myself think it would be a miracle if this happens, since after all I am an international student, but I guess hope dies last. 10x for the replies.

Those schools are well aware that accepting foreign students who can’t afford to come here is a waste of time. You will have to show the source of your support before getting a student visa, so gapping is not an options with international students. They have to make it so that you you can pass muster and get your visa.

So, it comes down to how much the schools want you. You will have to be at the top of the group that is accepted. It has to be worth it for the schools to pay for you to come. And that will depend on who else from your country and other countries are applying this year.

Also, it is my understanding that, in order to get a visa, international students have to show that they have enough support to cover all 4 years of studies.
