I feel that my stats are average compared to my peers for the class of 2007. Anyhow, here we go...

GPA (10-11 grades only)
UW- 3.72
W- 3.93

SAT I- 2250 (Aiming for 2300+)
SAT II- US History 780 Biology 740

Model UN and a bunch of other ECs i dont care to list right now...

I think I have good enough test scores for UCI and UCD, but below average for UCB and UCLA, and those two schools is what I'm aiming at.

What worries me is my mediocre grades, I took 3 AP courses my Junior year and As in all of them (haven't taken AP exams yet). No other honors courses. I had one C+ in Algebra 2, no other Cs though.

hm.. i think you're SAT score is pretty good. I'd say UCB is a reach. but UCLA is a pretty good fit for you. try to do better in grades and maybe increase the 2250. although it's pretty strong. you may want 2300+ for a much higher chance at UCB. i think UCLA is good though. go for UCB. best of luck.

sat score is fine. I got into both ucla and ucb with mid 2000's...but then again my gpa was almost flawless.

Edit: your sat score is more than fine...dont know what i was thinking. Its damn high. If i had your score i would have had a chance at the ivies (yeah i wish i studied for the sats instead of running two jobs during the summer)

My son had a 730 v/650 m/650 writing, 3.98 weighted. loads of AP classes, loads of ECs, varsity athlete, took summer school at local comm college, got an A, great recommends, great essay, etc. etc. Causcasian CA resident, got in at UC Irvine, Northeastern, wait list Boston U, turned down by UCLA.
If you really want UCLA I highly recommend taking summer school at your local CC. Shows them you can cut the college level work, they are weighted grades that will go into your 10-11 gpa.
That said, even with that extra he didn't get in.

The average UC weighted GPA of admitted students at UCLA for the fall of 2004 was 4.17. High school Grades are by far the most important criteria for admission to the competitive UCs. SATs have been de-emphasized by the higher ups in the UC system due to the increased risk of cultural bias, among other complaints. Getting above a 4.2 with a demanding class schedule full of AP classes will help. My D got into UCLA and UCB despite SAT 1 scores of less than 2000 primarily due to her excellent transcript.

ebeee: I am sorry about your bad experience with the college admissions process, but what major did he apply as?

was he doing a double major like Comp Sci & EE??

what was his UW GPA? and his SAT scores are a bit above 2000, which is great, but UCLA can be a bit tough these days [always been tough =( ]

also, one has to realize that UCLA and others have many many many 4.0 W and varsity athletes, the only college i'm surprised he didn't get into was Boston U!! [hard, but not THAT hard]

he was just a slightly below average UCLA applicant [that has the potential to get in, I mean SERIOUS UCLA applicant, not people who apply for the h e l l of it]

this year was really random, so it really sucks.

I have a 4.36gpa, but only scored 1700 on the SAT, I got a 10 on the essay, and I'm in a music organization with school for p.e. and also a magnet program that has orchestra and wind ensemble. I take mostly honors courses and ap classes. Will it be very difficult for me to get accepted into UCI or UCSD?

ok i have no idea what people are telling you your chances are but your real chances are.
UCLA/UCB: MATCH
OTHER UC's: HIGH MATCH/SAFETYS

your gpa 3.93 might be slightly low compared to the 4.3 they UCLA/UCB normally accepts but you have a 2250 which is 250 more points than the average. Don't worry you have a very high chance.
