Hi everyone,
I am a current junior in high school and I have been thinking about college applications a lot lately.
I looked back at all of my high school years, and my lack of extracurricular activites is kind of throwing me off.
I haven’t been dedicated or commited to anything besides one club.
I wish I could have been more involved, but I did not know much about
extracurriculars until last year.
These are all of my ECs:
- A charity club that my friends started: Involved for 3 years
secretary for 2 years - Library volunteer: one summer after freshman year
- Korean pop club: 1 year
And that is pretty much it.
I tried to join Red Cross, but I have not been attending many of the meetings because I always end up busy with something else. I never volunteered for it mainly because of transportation issues. The events are always far away, and my mom is always at work so she can not drive me there.
I am planning to volunteer again at the library this summer to tutor kids, and help out at the hospital as well.
I was also planning to work this summer to save some money for college, but I am not sure if I should do this summer internship at the hospital instead.
Everyone is encouraging me to do the internship, but I want to catch up with my community service.
I am really confused on what to do because I do not want to join new clubs out of the blue just to to pad my college application.
I also don’t know if I should just volunteer and work this summer, or do the internship instead.
What would you do in this situation?
Any advice would help. Thanks
