chances into YALE or HARVARD

Hey these are my stats:

I'm filipino, male; living in Irvine

I've taken 17 AP's so far (my HS is very high ranked so u can take AP's during freshman year...but u have to take a placement test first)

GPA: 4.5 weighted

AP - Bio, Chem, Calc AB and BC, American Lit, Brit Lit, Comp Sci AB, US History, World History, Euro History, French, Physics, Poli Sci, Macroeconomics, Art History, Environmental Science, Studio Art - some of these classes, i could not fit into schedule, so I had to study on my own at home. Anyways, i've gotten a 5 on all of these AP exams, except for a 4 in French.

EC:

I'm captain of school basketball, baseball, and swim team, two of which are OC champion teams
I'm head of school mock trial team; I tutor kids for math and science, and instead of taking payments, i accept community service hrs, have over 600 hours of community service; Head of debate team, and we are the regional champs; i'm a member of NHS, President of school Model UN, and class president; I'm president of science club and chess club and French club.

O yea cant forget the SATs :)

On SAT I, i got a 2400
On SAT II: US history 800, bio 790, chem 800, physics 800, french 770, Math 2 800

Whew...I never realized i've put so much work and effort into my high school career; my parents Julie and Doug could never be any prouder; I love them for their support. I would love your thoughts or opinions or better yet, if u think i can get into yale or harvard.

i dont know how u have time to do all that. and i think u know the answer to whether or not u will get into yale and/or princeton.

Damn those scores/grades are nice. You have as good a chance at yale/harvard as anyone i've seen

do u have awards or any strong ecs? ur lackin in that category and many people with great testscores...(they dont even have room for u to list that many sat 2s and aps) get rejected. without strong ECs u seem like a not very well-rounded individual. congratulations on superior test scores but thats not all that matters. do u have any strong awards? wat are u times in swimming? have u won awards in basketball/baseball?

LOL. Do you go to Uni?

APs really don't matter, in terms of exams. And since Uni offers a ton, and a ton of people take them, I'd say they're less important. Yeah, plus there isn't that much space for all those scores, they'll just take the top 3 (which are all 800s for SAT IIs)...

ECS: " I'm captain of school basketball, baseball, and swim team, two of which are OC champion teams --> that's great...but county isn't that impressive.
I'm head of school mock trial team (which just started last year? I don't think this significant b/c you guys haven't really done that well - translates into yeah, i'm the head, but we haven't won anything so...it looks like ur slacking off or bad leader or generally bad image); I tutor kids for math and science (expand on that), and instead of taking payments, i accept community service hrs (LOL, is it just me, or does this sound a bit arrogant? like, instead of visa, i'll accept cash.) , have over 600 hours of community service; Head of debate team (...I've NEVER heard of Uni debate, and I know bunch of people there...must be very new..., "and we are the regional champs" - that's really hard to believe b/c I debate for IVC and JUDGE SCUDL....and have never heard of Uni debate, much less winning regionals...) ; i'm a member of NHS (everyone applying to Ivies are members of NHS), President of school Model UN (again...never heard of Uni Model UN, and my former debate partner founded UCI MUN...(which hosts tournament this weekend, i think)...so its great you're president, but if its of a club/team that hasn't accomplished much than it doesn't really matter), and class president (really? that's good if you are); I'm president of science club and chess club and French club (again, everyone can be president of a club. show your interest. how much you lloooooovveeeee french or chess or science. Otherwise...you can be the only person in your club, and hence 'president' - that's probably not the case, but the colleges don't know that and won't bother to care)."

I don't get why people will do all these ECs so you have breadth; but not depth. A lot of these ECs don't make it past regionals, not even ranking...and regional champs aren't that important. If you've won something on state/national level, that'd be way better - and look way better on any app than 5 less important and less accomplished activites. Colleges aren't looking for lots of activities, they're looking for people to specialize and do well in specific things so that they can take skills to college and win stuff for the university! they're not looking for well-rounded people, but a well-rounded class.

and since you say 4.5 weighted...i'm wondering what your unweighted is.

I think you know about this girl (don't remember her name) who was amazing this year from uni...bunches of ECs, great GPA, perfect SATs, class president or something, and overall amazing. and she got deferred from harvard ea (don't know if she got accepted, or where she's going). On the other hand, Will had Bs all over his transcript so so-so GPA, pretty good SATs, and pretty much no ECs...except for fencing, which he went to jr. olympics in (never mind that there were only 3 people qualifying and so it was EASY to get in...ivies don't know that so it still looks awesome) and really loves. Got into Stanford EA. But you should know this already, shouldn't you? So yeah...ECs. distinguish yourself.

say hi to julie and doug for me
