Essays
-Common App - Wrote about how my granddad (who is a genius) has declined a bit but has still influenced my life
-Why Penn - Wrote about my visit to Philadelphia over the summer and how the school allayed my fears of it being a in a big city. Also talked about the alignment of values between the school and myself in terms of ingenuity and work/social life balance.
-M&T - spun it talking about my love for mathematics and the influences of my grandfather (engineer) and my father (worked for the bank his whole life, now has MBA), and how I can be successful in their program combining the two.
-Optional - left it blank.

Thank you in advance for any comments you have. I applied ED to M&T with a secondary choice of SEAS.

where in nc are you from? i'm from nc and applying ed too!

@Sleepingbueaty: That's neat that we're both applying. I'm from the southern Charlotte area. Where are you from? And good luck!

It would be nice to show that you are strong and well rounded in the basic sciences also. Why no AP Bio or AP Chem? All I see are math based classes, physics, computers, statistics. AP Human geography is a little soft.

However, I think you are competitive, good luck.

catawba county, so about an hour or so away. haha who would think? good luck to you too!

hmm...i think you have decent chances at the dual-degree program (which is like impossible)
but i think you have very good shots at SEAS

why didnt u do the optional? bcuz you could've given yourself another shot to show yourself and interest for penn

I didn't do the optional because I knew I couldn't have done it well. I would have definitely come across is overly pompous/arrogant, so I just decided to avoid it altogether.

Make sure you take a humble pill before you go to the interview.

don't worry, Cbreeze, I come across fairly well in person.

The main issue I would have in writing to the prompt is 1) I have high expectations of myself/my potential and 2) There's no chance for my to back it up with my person.
