^lolololololol, don’t listen to this guy, he’s an idiot.

NYU low reach? his weighted GPA is a 3.58 with all honors and some APs? his UW is probably a low 3/high 2. reach.
ucsd accepted students have an average Wgpa of about 4.2, not to mention he is out of state. reach.
UT is a far reach.
ucla’s accepted student gpa average is 4.38. I’d say far reach for that as well.
Nova is a (?) because of legacy status, you think about that yourself.
Reach/Low Reach at pepperdine.
Fordham is a meh. Low reach/high match.

funny how high schoolers tend to give other high schoolers chances when 90% have no idea what they’re talking about. OP, you’re better off looking at the college’s websites and looking at average stats/comparing them than have these random clueless people try to tell you if you will get in or not.

I didn’t know that chancing people was only limited to high schoolers who dont know anything? I did this kid a favor and told him what he’s really up against.

Dont attack Genre. His relativly harsh rhetoric shouldnt mask the fact that he just gave the poster a realistic view of his chances. And he is completely right. A 3.5 Gpa WEIGHTEd?? that’s a ridiculously low gpa. the average unweighted gpa for nyu is in the 3.7 range. (its ashame though. those sat’s are all above average for NYU)

Thanks everyone! and looking at my school’s naviance report, UT is a fallback as is Fordham (friend got in with a 3.2 W, 1850 SAT and few extracurriculars). To clarify, my UC gpa is a 3.92. Yeah sophomore year killed me (3.4) never had any type of C or lower though : ). On the plus side, my high school is one of the top in the state so we get lucky quite often

^ with a 3.93 UC GPA and a SAT score of 2110, you could even get into Berkeley as Berkeley needs to increase the number of their OOS and International Students this year and the next years to come. Seriously, you should apply to Berkeley as well. You 'd only need to check the box (for Cal) and pay extra 60 bucks (I think) for it! You wouldn’t know… Good luck!

My intended major is economics, international relations as a second choice. Incidentally I looked at the scatter plot for NYU acceptances as well as Fordham and the avg accepted weighted gpa from fordham was a 3.5 and NYU was a 3.76. I found this interesting. Yes, I was hoping the california grading system would make that much of a difference, glad to hear others agree!

OP attends a competitive high school, and 18% of NYU’s average incoming freshman has between a 3.25 and 3.49 GPA. While he is by no means a shoo-in, he definitely stands a chance. This is boosted by the fact that he does not need any FA.
