Chances? O_O

So I know my test scores aren't so stellar and I bombed a couple of APs (both in the same week, which happened to be one of the worst weeks of my life...) but I really love writing/humanities and I'm hoping that my essays will reflect that...I'm also going to do an interview in a couple weeks so I hope that will also give the admissions staff a better picture of me as a person/student as opposed to words on paper.

Alriiiiight. Chance meeee. Please? (:

Oh, I forgot to mention that I’m interested in majoring in Public Policy & Cinema, but I’m open to changing major(s). One of the things I love about UChicago is the fact that the core curriculum gives me an excuse to not only spend a quarter abroad (the Civ. requirement!), but also gives me the excuse to take classes across disciplines. I didn’t take a science this year and I’m really starting to miss it!

Don’t be so depressed of your AP scores. You have fair SAT grade, and moreover, standardized test scores are not the most important factor U of C considers. If you manage to get superb essays and recommendations, why not give it a try?

could you please chance me back?
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-chicago/1229453-my-chance-uchicago-ea.html

Your SAT scores are on the low end of Chicago stats. ACT scores are good. You have a decent shot. Your GPA is a little low. What you lack the most is a lot of leadership roles. Make sure you write stellar essays.

Hey guys, thanks for chancing. (:

What do you mean by leadership roles? I’m club founder (2 clubs), transfer peer mentor, and team captain (basketball & XC)…don’t those count? maybe club founder won’t look so good because I only started the clubs this year…what do you think? /:

oh, i also forgot to mention that my GPA is unweighted, and I joined chess club this year…

also two awards I don’t think have much impact:

 • Honorable Mention National Chinese Essay Contest
 • National Merit Commended Student (…lol…if only I lived in Wyoming…)

What is your SAT score if you exclude the writing section (and superscore reading and math)?
