Chances of being able to transfer

Hello all,

I am currently a second semester CS major at American University. After some careful deliberation about my own passions and interests, I have decided that I no longer wish to remain at AU because my passion, CS and mathematics, are not subjects that are emphasized. Also…the political environment is just not for me; I just don’t feel as if my questioning (political questioning) is welcome there. As a result, I just don’t think that it is a very welcoming place for differing ideas, and it wouldn’t allow me to grow intellectually (engaging in healthy debate). I just want to know which college among the ones I have picked I have a chance and no chance. I’ll put my stats below:

Just a warning, I don’t have the most amazing high school resume and an even less amazing SAT score.

Not sure how much this matters, but I have ADHD and am on ASD…
Also: I’m of Pakistani heritage. Pakistani parents. I guess you could just say I’m Asian for easy-categorization.

HS GPA: 3.73
Spanish Honors Society Co-Captain, National Honors Society member, Model UN president
Spanish Colt Award
Combined around 163 hours of community service
Graduated with honors

SAT:
Math: 590
Reading: 660

College:
Cumulative GPA: 3.71
Dean’s List first semester
Just some relevant courses:
Calculus 1: B+
Intro to CS I: A-

Right now, I am taking Stats and introduction to computer science II which could be described as a Data Structures class.

So currently, I am applying to the following schools: UCONN, UMASS Amherst, Northeastern, and NYU. Feel free to make adjustments to the list as you see fit. Go all out - be brutal. I just need to know the truth.

Thanks for all of the help!

Also: I took 15.5 credits last semester and am currently taking 17.5 credits…

It seems to me like you are transferring for, lack of better words, a stronger CS/Math program. If this is not the case, please correct me. If this is the case, then it seems like it would be hard to do because, to be honest, you don’t have the best grades, especially in college-level calculus and intro to CS – core CS subjects. However, since you’re not applying to crazy elite schools, I believe you have a chance. I can see your decisions going either way; it would probably help a lot if you wrote fantastic essays. Good luck!

What is your home state? What is your budget?

Northeastern and NYU look like reaches to me even if you can afford to be full pay.

I am wondering whether you should add U.Mass Lowell as a safety.
