I am a female, three-year graduate from a smaller Texas high school. I have a 4.2 GPA in a mostly 4.5 weighted scale, with exceptions for my college classes that were weighted on a 5.0 scale. I took the most rigorous plan available at my high school. I tested out of English 3 and took English 4 as dual credit. I have a possiblity of being valedictorian or salutatorian of the class I am now joining. I will definitally be in the top 10 percent. I ran/will run varsity cross country all three years, having advanced to regionals each year, being captain and MVP my sophomore year. I was also on the varsity track and cheerleading teams. I was a member of our Small Schools Academic Team all years, winning the area competition and advancing to state this past year. My current events UIL team advanced to regionals freshman year, and my sophomore year we won regionals and advanced to the state meet. I was in band and basketball my freshman year. I have been on my church's youth ministry advisory council since freshman year, and in the spring of my sophomore year I was named to the archdiocese youth advisory council. I coached a 5th and 6th grade girls basketball team my sophmore year and plan to continue my senior year. I will graduate with at least 22 college credit hours. I was the Fundraising Director and the Club Committee Chairmen for the Interact Club my sophomore year, a member my freshman year. I was my school's HOBY ambassador. I am a member of the Future Teachers Association and Student Council. I scored 1700 on my SATs my sophomore year, I plan to take it again this fall. I volunteer at my church constantly and at our parish social ministry, especially at the food pantry. Is this enough??? What are my chances of being admitted into Rice?

Your EC’s sound impressive. That SAT score needs to be higher though Im pretty sure.

Bump up your SAT up by a lot and you have a chance. Rice is notorious for only accepting students with 2100+ scores.

^I Love the name, PRElives!

-“To give anything less than your best is to sacrifice the gift.” Basically my life motto, haha.

I have full intentions of bringing up my SAT score, and possibly taking the ACT also. And yes. PRE does live. “The best pace is a suicide pace, and today is a good day to die.”

Ahh, thats a good one! Anyway, I guess I should chance you lol. You have a strong application in terms of ECs, GPA and Class rank but the test scores need improvement. Apply some of Pre’s quotes to studying for the SATs and getting that 2100 will be a cinch. Good Luck!

Hopefully! Thanks CornelHopeful! Good luck to you as well.

Hell yes to cross country in Texas! I’m from the Woodlands, OP. Cross country is our life.

Oh, and you’re in great shape once you pull up those test scores.
