Hi I am going to be a Senior in high school after summer and was wondering what my chances were for getting into Rice University, listed as #17 in the Nation, before applying. I am a Hispanic male, with a 4.0 GPA, 2030 on the SAT, Senior Class President (I was voted for at the end of Junior year) And my rank is 40 out of 700, (due to slacking off freshman year), but it is still in the top 10%. I am an active member of many clubs in my school including Student Council, Environmental Club, Robotics Club, Book Club, Art Club, National Honor Society, and Mu Alpha Theta, while being the founder of a club called Model U.N for my school. I was in Cross Country and Track Freshman through Junior year (I quit due to my many obligations). I took 1 AP class sophomore year (the only one available at the time) 3 AP's Junior year and am taking 5 AP's Senior year. I also volunteer at my Church and during the summer at the hospital. I am planning on majoring in Chemistry. Please give me feedback, don't worry I'm open to criticism. Thank-You.

Everything seems good enough for a chance except a slightly higher rank (but 10% is still sufficient), and a higher sat score.

Rice: Reach (ED if you want)

I think you would greatly improve your chances if you could possibly increase your SAT score by 100 points or more. Good luck.

Please don’t go randomly posting this in other discussions. I just saw it in the prep school section.

You should get a 2500 on the SAT and then you could maybe get in

Thanks blarry22, especially since the SAT only goes up to 2400…

You’re Hispanic, so that’s good.

Your EC’s seem like they’re all over the place. From what I’ve heard, colleges prefer depth instead of breadth. Have you done exceptionally well in any of your EC’s?

As for your SAT, you should probably try to pull it up. If you haven’t taken your SAT II’s, you should probably do so. (I’m not sure about Rice’s SAT II policy, so taking them might be useless but eh.)
