This year I’ll be a senior at a small public long island high school. Im not sure exactly of my rank but im in the top. I also don’t know my GPA out of 4 but out of 100 I have about a 93 unweighted and 98 weighted. I got a 1930 on the SAT (670 CR, 650 M, 610 Writing) and a 29 on the ACT which I might retake in September. I think I am pretty well rounded: I have 4 years of varsity Tennis, Winter, and Spring Track. I am also a member of national honor society, Treasurer (junior year) and President (Senior year) of my school’s history club, and a member of the SADD club. I have one of the heaviest course loads my school can offer and I will have taken 8 APs by the end of high school: World History, Chemistry, English Language, US history, Literature, Biology, and Calculus AB. I am hoping to apply to Colgate as a bio major but I want to know if its worth it or if I don’t have a chance. ( I will probably apply early decision). I am also looking into Syracuse and UConn but any suggestions of bio programs in the Northeast that would be suitable for someone like me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks and please reply any help is greatly appreciated because as you can tell, I am very far behind in the process!
I couldn’t find admissions statistics for ED applicants, but here is the general profile for the class of 2020. https://www.colgate.edu/admission-financial-aid/first-year-class-profile
Your course rigor, GPA, and extracurricular activities look great, but your SAT and ACT scores are a little bit low. I think you should strongly consider retaking the ACT (otherwise you’ll have to study for the redesigned SAT if you choose that route). Overall, I think you have a very strong chance of admission if you apply ED. Remember that Colgate practices holistic admissions, so start working on your personal statement and supplements (if Colgate has them) because they are very important. Also, ask your teachers for letters of recommendation as soon as you get back to school if you haven’t done so already. Good luck!
