As I posted in the last thread, I’m a Junior in high school right now and my weighted GPA at the end of my Junior year will either be 3.805 or 3.797 depending on whether I end up with an A- or an A in Micro Computer Apps. I currently have an A- in the class, but I can still bring it barely up to an A if I dominate the final exam in the class next week. From what I’ve heard, I’ll have to petition if my GPA 3.797.
However, my weighted GPA is a bit misleading. If my weighted GPA ends up being 3.797, my unweighted GPA would be a 3.358! I’ve taken most of the honors and AP classes available at my school. I did really bad Freshman and Sophmore year, but I’ve mostly gotten straight A’s my Junior year. There’s a massive upward trend on my transcript. Do they only consider weighted GPA when petitioning? I’m worried that my UW GPA is so low that they won’t consider my petition.
I took the SAT once without studying whatsoever and got a 1410/1600. However, I’m going to take it again in August. Additionally, I’m taking the ACT in June. I’ve studied hard for both the SAT and the ACT and have taken ample practice tests. Based on my practice tests, I am confident that I’ll at least get a 1500+ and a 33+ on the SAT and ACT respectivley.
Do you think I’ll get in via petition with a UW GPA of 3.358, a W GPA of 3.797, and a SAT/ACT score of 1500+/33+? Or will my horrid Freshman and Sophmore year grades and the ridiculous grade inflation of my high school get me rejected? I’m out of state btw, but I lived in Indiana up until 2016 when my family moved to Iowa.
