I will be a freshman at the University of Pittsburgh in the fall. I sent in my housing choices a few months ago. I chose a Tower C single. Are there any current or past students from Pitt to answer this question? What do you think my chances are of getting my first choice? Did you get placed in your first choice of housing?

My first choice was Tower A, and I got it. However, Towers A & B aren’t hard to get into because they’re all freshman dorms. However, one of my friends was placed in Tower C even though Tower A was his first choice, meaning there must have been a lack of freshman who wanted to room there. Tower C isn’t too difficult to get into though, from what I hear. You have better chances of getting in there than say, the Quad, PA Hall, or Panther Hall.

if you chose Tower C as your first choice you’ll get it. Tower C and bad Quad rooms/Lothrop seem to be where random people are placed if they can’t fit into top choices. I don’t think you’ll have a problem. Last year if people wanted to move out of my dorm due to roommate issues (no one did) they were told to move to Tower C.

My daughter chose Tower C for her sophomore year and loved it. There was a mix of freshmen, sophomores and juniors there. So don’t feel you’re getting a “leftover” or random room. She did fine with a roommate in Tower B her freshman year but felt she wanted her privacy going forward. She also loves the convenience of Towers.
