Does anyone have photos of a single room in tower C? Are they all the same? Are there any other single dorms on campus? Is single the best way to go? Please PM me and I will give you my email.

Thanks

So I just worked for Panther Central for the last three days and there are a few “changes”.

1- The Rooms in Tower C are all singles, and they’re all the same to my knowledge. However, due to an overflow of freshman, all the lounges in Tower C have been converted into 3-person rooms.
2- There are single rooms in Holland Hall (for freshman girls), Forbes Hall (for Engineers), and Lothrop Hall (for Freshman and Upperclassmen).
3- I had a roommate my first two years on campus. First year I didn’t really get along with her (she stayed up really loud, was super loud, and incredibly messy) but I would’ve LOVED for a roommate I did get along with. Second year my friend was my roomie and our other friend lived in the other room of our apartment. I loved always having people around to talk to or chill with. It was also really fun having my friend be my roommate because we got along really well. The next year I was in a 3-person apartment but each person had their own room. It basically felt about the same except that my room only had my bed in it.

Basically, I think it’s a really good experience having roommates, but I’m used to it from growing up with a sister close to my age. If you don’t think you could handle sharing very close quarters with a stranger, or if you’re just inordinately shy around people, or if you just like privacy, then I would go for a single. Otherwise, get a roommate for freshman year and enjoy the college experience.

Do you have any photos of the singles in Tower C and/or Lothrop Hall? I will PM you my email if you do.

I don’t, but try the housing thread: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-pittsburgh/1165475-housing-pictures.html

If you go to YouTube and do a search for “my dorm room tower c” you’ll find a good video of what the room looks like.

My daughter is a freshman and just moved into Tower C on Tuesday. It was her first choice. She absolutely loves it and loves not having a roommate. Because everyone is in the same situation (all freshmen with no roommates) everyone is very social. Her room is very small, but she does have a/c.

I’m curious as to how loud tower C is - I mean a single room is obviously more private, but is there a party atmosphere and late night noise in the halls?

Well there are 24 hour quiet floors too?

My daughter’s only complaint about the noise was on her first night there. Her room is close to the elevator, so she heard that noise, as well as the noise from the streets below. Since then, she’s slept fine. She says her floor is relatively quiet and everyone is very respectful of each other. My feeling is that the people who choose this dorm as their first choice want less of a party atmosphere than perhaps living in the other Towers provide. She really feels like she has the best of both worlds–she is centrally located, can be as social as she’d like, but also has the ability to escape when she wants to.
