Chances of getting in with major suspension

Okay, when I was 16 and extremely nieve I was called into the principals office and told that I was reported for sexually groping a girl I knew. I never laid a hand on her but the principal drilled it into me that he had me on camera and had evidence that I did so under the Influence of blind trust in the administration to have my best interest I came to the conclusion that I must of did it without recalling it. I was suspended for 10 days and it was placed on my transcript that it was sexual battery. After I came back to school for in school suspension pending a formal hearing the girl who accused me redacted her statement as false which let me go but the suspension still went on my record. Since sexual assaulted is a major issue in American colleges what are my chances that I’ll ever get to have a higher education. This eats at me on a daily basis because I honestly just want 5o better my life but I feel like the moment I explain the reason I was suspended it’ll automatically be considered lying and considering the principle saw no wrong doing in lying to get a confession I doubt I have anyone on my side when it comes to this situation.

If you did not do then you need to ask your school to remove the record. Ask your parents to talk to the school.

Go talk to them yourself too.

Go with your parents. Point out that you were pressured to admit guilt even though you knew you hadn’t done anything and didn’t totally understand what you were asked to admit to (it sounds like English may not have been tour native or primary language?) Talk with your parents ahead of time and agree that if they refuse to remove the suspension (even after the accusing student retracted herself) they’ll hear from ‘your’ attorney - you don’t need an attorney ahead of time (just plant the seed) but be ready to go through with it.
It’s normal you’d be punished if you were guilty.
If the charges were withdrawn due to a false testimony (motivated by revenge? A wager/bet?..) It’s equally normal that you record would be expunged.

I would totally back this up with a lawyer. The schools are mandated to report sexual assault (if they called it sexual battery it is beyond the realm of suspension) so whatever this was about needs looking at. Is the principal still in position? The girl is still at school?

Something doesn’t add up. You said they told you the incident was caught on camera, and also that the girl retracted her charge. Which is it?

And groping isn’t a “naive” thing to do when you’re 16. It’s very, very aggressive. If I were reviewing your application, I would only admit you if I were 100% sure you didn’t do this.

And if you really didn’t do it, then do everything in your power to clear your name.

“Something doesn’t add up. You said they told you the incident was caught on camera, and also that the girl retracted her charge. Which is it?”

Agreed. The OP’s story is fishy.

OP is saying the principal lied about having him on camera but because he was young, scared, and intimidated he thought he must have done something wrong without realizing it. He was pressured into confessing to something he didn’t do.

OP, I agree with MYOS1634. Get your parents involved and follow up with legal action if necessary. Good luck.
