Okay so I’m currently a junior in high school with a gpa of 2.3. I know university of Mississippi is probably a reach but I do a lot of community service and I have been on the varsity swim team and will be captain next year. I haven’t taken the ACTs or SATs yet but I am going to. I also have 3 of my teachers writing recommendation letters for me (I don’t know if that matters). I just want to know if I have a chance of getting in.
Out of state is 2.75.
All admission information can be found here for both residents and nonresidents. There is a review committee that reads applications of people who fall below the admissions standards. http://admissions.olemiss.edu/applying-to-ole-miss/freshmen/ @sam127
Work on the GPA and push hard to do well on the ACT/SAT.
so is there a chance? should I even bother applying?
You have to get very close to a 2.75 out of state. They take the fluff classes out to determine your GPA in the core classes. Then you can write a letter to the committee. I would be in contact with your state’s admissions counselor who can guide you through the process. Also if you have good ACT/SAT that can weigh in your favor.
okay thank you! This helped so much!
