I know i need more volunteering and extra curriculars to make up for my D and all but anything else i need to work on??

As you may know, JMU has become much more competitive. My s was deferred for early action this year. He has a 3.6 uw GPA and SATs of 660 R, 640 M, and 610 W. He also has a lot of ECs and honors including NHS, All-State band (twice), chorus, and four years of drama (both as an actor and as a student critic). One possible red flag on his transcript: a D in Physics. So for starters, I'd advise you to avoid your D in History at all costs. Also, you need to get your SAT scores up past 1700 total (at least). But mostly, you need to have as high a GPA as you can get. I wish you well. JMU is a great school and it's worth the effort to try and get accepted there. Good luck.

Totally agree with the above post. The admission officers will look past your C in geometry, but a D, or even another C in history would not be helping your case. If it means not doing any more ECs to get your grade up, then don't. Get your grade up and comit time to apush. It will be hard, but it will be worth the credit you get and the school you get into. A wise poster once told me that When you feel like slacking off or doing something else, just remember: you only have one shot at this. no going back. stay focused, and Good Luck!

i got in this year with a 3.72 gpa and a 1510/2400 SAT and im out of state, i got in early admission
