i know i need to work on my extracurriculars and leadership and definitely take the SAT again. but besides that what do you think?

maybe only mention NYLF in additional info. I’ve always thought it was a scam, and I don’t think colleges really are impressed.

I raised my CR 100 pts from a 700 using the blue book so you prob can too…and then I would say you have a realllllllly good shot.

yeah good idea.
its kind of like a lot of people are selected but you have to pay tons of money to go?
whatever.

and blue book…?

The ‘blue book’ is the college board’s SAT prep book. personally, i found that princeton reviews ACT prep book helped me much, much more, for both the ACT and the SAT, than the cb SAT book did…but thats just me lol. also-take the ACT. can’t hurt.
Make a good resume of your ec’s, etc (in the additional info section) and write awesome essays, and you have a great chance! I’d also do an interview. your participation in nylf definitely demonstrates a concerted effort to engage in your academic passions (apparently medicine) outside of the classroom setting, even if it might not be up to par with your other ec.s. so i would include it on the same level as the other ec.s
Hope that that helps! blessings!

Waitlist…

how does one get a 5.27 gpa?

it just depends on how many ap’s you take and how your county/school decides to weigh them. in my county, people can get up pretty high in the 5.0 gpa range. i saw one kid who was home schooled (took all of his classes on virtual school) and graduated with a 5.9 gpa.

Most schools give one extra point for an AP. So a 5 would be the highest possible.
