Hello everyone out there! I am currently in the 7th grade and have set the goal of getting into andover. I am currently in gifted classes at my now middle school and have an A or A+ in every subject. I have a year ahead of myself before I take the ssat. Do you have any tips on that or when/how to study. I have one problem and that is extracurricular activities. I understand that these are critical (one of the reasons why I wish to go to andover) and would like to know if this would affect the chances of admissions. Could you give me an honest estimate of my chances and tell me what I need to do to increase them.

Your grades are great, but many of the kids applying to these schools have excellent grades. If I were you, I would find a subject in which I am very strong and build from there. Get advanced in a subject, play a sport, learn an instrument, draw a painting etc.

Well I used to be in the school music program where I played saxophone but I totally resent it. It is corrupted and does not work at all. It worked like this: for an hour a day you are to be excused from classes. Yet upon return I would get yelled at by teachers for not finishing that test, getting my homework, etc. Btw we do have art class, computer class, music class, and gym. I excel in all of these classes.

Just to tell you, Andover’s acceptance rate is extremely low so you might want to cast a wider net, just because what if you don’t get in? Remember that the application process is extremely competitive. Start an EC you enjoy now!
