I’m applying this year to COSMOS and I am looking at UCSD cluster 12 introduction to autonomous vehicles. Although I don’t have much robotics background, I am heavily involved in my school’s code club as well as cyber security team. I am also experienced in 3D Design with Solidworks. However I’m afraid that my first B on my transcript this semester will hurt my chances of getting in(3.97 unweighted GPA). With these stats and EC what are my chances of getting in?
here is the reality of applications. the reason why admissions always ask for an essay is because if people got in based on their academics, nearly everyone would be accepted. your ec’s seem fine, your stats are alright. i don’t know what you got a B in but if it is not a stem course, you should be fine. (even if it is not its just one b). the reason why it is okay is because all you have to do to show you have a genuine interest in the subject is not by how well you perform in it, but what ideas, conclusions, an opinion you have about it. that means you have to focus on your essays to show the admissions officer how unique and passionate you are about your subject. if you want to learn something new because it interests you, write about that! but do remember that everyone else is probably thinking the same thing, so make sure, above all, that you are MEMORABLE. that’s all i can say, good luck!
@girrafez Thank you so much! I will definitely keep what you said in mind.
