Chances of Getting into Harvard

Ok, based on the experiences that I have mentioned, what do you guys think I should write my essay on?

^We don’t know your life story. Write about something that you feel passionate about, or an experience that changed you (but write something that’s unique and interesting). There are so many things you can write about, but only YOU can decide what you SHOULD write about.

I agree with Rainbow. Your essay has room for improvement; you have excellent records so you should be more relax and enjoy the process.
Good luck.

Hey, dudes, I am at Harvard right now!!! I’m here for a speech and debate tournament and there is enough wind to blow a person off if he/she isn’t careful enough. I’m participating in an event called original oratory. Wish me luck! Oh, btw, it is truly inspiring to see the university, because it gives you something to strive for in the next year or two.

With all that math stuff, of course you will get in. Their math program would be really lucky to have you.

Hey guys, I might not have mentioned, but these are my projected chances. I am making predicitions, but most are quite reasonable. I already have the SAT score, my GPA is the best, I get like a 100+% in every class, I made the USAMO last year and will probably make MOP next year, I am on the speech team. I might not have mentioned that I am already the student council president, debate captain, and on varsity tennis. I think that I will write my essay for my passion for my religion and how I love going to the mosque and participating. I will also be going to Harvard Summer School to take Multivaribale Calculus, Linear Algebra, and Differential Equations. My recs will be awesome- one from a math professor at Vanderbilt, and one from an English teacher who is from Princeton. I will probably get 5’s on 12 AP classes. I also play the piano and have gotten the state gold star. What volunteering/community service does the admissions comittee at Harvard love?
Would it look nice if I went to the Vanderbilt Young Medical Scholars Program in addition to MOP next year?

Hey, guys, what are my chances of getting into Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN?

If not Harvard probably another great University. As for college essay focus on something that really reflects you. It’s great that you like Harvard but so does thousands of other applicants so flattery shouldn’t be your main point. Coherence is important in your essay. Good Luck.

HSS, USAMO and perhaps even IMO, and then also varsity tennis and debate? I can’t imagine how you would not get in…

I don’t know your situation as well as you do, but I would warn against using that recommendation from an English teacher at Princeton for the brand name appeal. You might be better off with a high school teacher who knows you better and can vouch for your strengths. But if you happen to be an amazing writer who hobnobs with ivy league English professors then by all means use it.

Hey, guys, some people on one of his other threads checked his resume. Not one of the USAMO people from Tennessee in the past couple years has been Palestinian, and he can’t have been an Intel finalist unless he were a senior, which he says he isn’t. So he’s a ■■■■■. Blah, waste of time.

come to Rice.

I still do not know what type Harvard really want to get .I love it ,but really I don’t know how to get it .Because you guys all know great grades are not enough .Maybe that just doing and reaching my goal is enough.

I thought you need three SAT Subject tests for Harvard? :S

I wish to pursue medicine in the near future and obviously, to pursue this, I will have to enter as a pre-med student. I’ve just finished junior year and I’m studying the IB curriculum. My higher levels are:
Biology- A
Chemistry- A
Economics- A
My standard levels are;
Mathematics- A-
English- A
French- A-
I’ve given my SAT once and I got a 2060, I wasn’t satisfied with the score so I took it again and got a 2200
I also gave the ACT to be on the safe side and got a 33
I’m the president of student council in my school
I’m the debate captain in school as well
I play varsity level basketball
I’ve done 2 internships, and about 200-300 hours of community service
I’m on the honors roll and have won the best student award every year in high school so far and I’ve also got an award for biology all throughout high school.
Also, I play the piano and I’ve managed to complete the grade 7 piano exam (trinity) I’ve been in theatre productions in grade 10 and 11.
I also won the chemistry award at the end of junior year. My letters of rec. seem pretty strong as well.
Lastly, I gave the SAT II subject tests in biology and chemistry and scored a 800 and 750 respectively.
Other than that, I’m an international student who has had the opportunity to live in various parts of the world.

What are my chances of getting in?
Thank you
I’m predicted a 43 on 45 in my IB

^You have fairly high chances  Just keep working hard in school and taking rigorous courses!

Chance back?
