Chances of getting into harvard?

It's my first time posting on this website, so please bear with me. I'm a senior with the following credentials, who applied early to Harvard this year. I'm just curious as to what you think my chances of getting admitted are.
SAT CR: 760 M:720 W: 730
ACT (composite): 34
SAT II: Math 2- 780, Physics-720, Chemistry-730
APs: 5 in Psychology, Chemistry, Physics, Government, Microeconomics, Environmental Science, Language and Composition, Calc AB. 4 in US History.

Senior year classes: Anatomy (honors), AP Calc BC, AP Lit, AP Statistics, AP Human geography, science research, journalism

My leadership: tennis captain for 2 years, junior class treasurer, senior class vice president, business manager of the newspaper publication (11th grade), current opinions editor for publications

Extracurriculars: 4 year tennis varsity letter, 4 yr varsity volleyball letter, 4 yr debate team member, 5 yr. future problem solving, 2 years staff writer for newspaper; member of National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta and Quill and Scroll; Three year FAMAT school team member and participant. Two years of science research (working with project mentor,). Sing classical indian music, heavily involved with several cultural activites.
(I've won a few honors/distinctions for these activites too).

Volunteering: over 250 hours at Hospice, plus another 60 in various other activites (i.e. medical camps, religious events, school activities, etc)

My understanding at places like Harvard is people don’t even bother applying unless they have stats like yours. Order of admit goes something like:

1)Kids of huge donors (ie millions donated)
2)recruited athletes
3)legacies w/very good stats
4)URM’s/crazy stories (like homeless girl) that still have great stats
5)normal smart hardworking kids like yourself with great EC’s fill out the last few slots

hmm, okay. That’s not too encouraging, but I also got that idea from browsing various websites. I don’t have a huge “hook” but have the well-rounded thing going for me. I’m hoping the fact that I’m Indian won’t count against me in terms of test scores since they aren’t as high as the Asian stereotype says they should be.
I guess I can only wait and see…

I think your scores and grades are amazing, and you have really good extracurriculars. Your profile is pretty much great- like the earlier person said, the only thing is that you could be lacking a special hook or crazy story that prevents you from leaving “category 5.” Obviously Havard is a reach, but I think you could get in.

yeah definitely think you’re a viable candidate…I imagine if you apply to H/Y/P and a few of the other top 10’s you’ll definitely have options and get into a couple

Great ACT scores! By the way, what’s your GPA? I’ll assume it’s pretty high, guessing from your test scores. I’d say you’re pretty competitive, when you add on the essays and teacher recs (assuming they’ll be stellar, since you seem to be a great student).

May the odds be ever in your favor! :)

Thanks
As for my GPA- UW: 4.0 W: 4.6
School Rank: 1/ 156 (I go to a small school lol, but a very competitive and high-achieving one)

For Commonapp essay, I wrote about volunteering at Hospice and the lessons learned. I think it was decent. For the Harvard supplement specifically, I talked about various books I’ve read in a creative way, as if I were an observer in those books. TRs are also solid. Just keeping my fingers crossed!

P.S. I love that you’re a hunger games fan. May the odds be ever in YOUR favor too! :)

Definitely apply widely.

You have a chance, but yolo is essentially correct. There aren’t too many recruited athletes like some other schools, and Harvard is notorious for turning down most perfect GPA/ SAT score applicants.

All three of the perfect GPA / perfect SAT individuals my year ended up going to Berkeley due to rejections from Harvard and Stanford.

The following applicants have a good chance

-A small number of ultra high asian/white achievers who did basically everything and has perfect stats. The adcom happened to read their application on a happy Friday afternoon.
-Black, athletic, got a perfect SAT score
-Dad is CEO of Fortune 500 company, donated and is an alum
-A crazy story that is believable in combination with great stats. "Dad died in Afghanistan, brother is autistic so mom went into drugs and I was forced on Skid Row. After terrible tribulations of every kind such as the seven plagues, I still got 4.0/2300.

Good job on your stats, that is really impressive! However, Ivies, especially Harvard, can be so unpredictable. I think you have as good of a shot as anyone else. If I were you, I would apply to as many of the other Ivies as you can (only if you can see yourself there of course), as well as a few safeties. But, in terms of Harvard, I’d say you’re a really competitive applicant and you have a pretty decent chance. Good luck :)

Did you ever get in?

I’m indian too and I’m a junior in high school. I have huge dreams and one of them is getting into Harvard. I have the grades, scores and EC’s for it, but I don’t know how to go about the extra push that would get me in.

The original poster is long gone. Closing thread.
