Hi so long story short I just moved to the us and Im in my junior year of high school and they say junior year is your most important high school year and all the colleges look at it but since I just moved here, I have to take lots of classes Im missing to fit the requirements to graduate leaving me no AP classes. My school takes algebra 2 during junior year but Im in Pre-Calculus and that’s the only advanced class Im in. During my freshman year I had a 4.2 GPA and during sophomore year a 4.0 GPA so I have the grades but how bad will the not taking AP classes affect my chances? Also, where I was living, they didn’t have AP classes so I technically have zero advanced placement classes and I know they excuse them if the school doesn’t offer them but here they do and Im not taking any.
I appreciate the help sorry for the mental breakdown
Harvard accepts less than 6% of all applicants. I’ll put the question back to you: What do YOU think your chances are?
Chuck in your visa status as you have just moved, are you a US citizen?
Yes I’m a us citizen so I don’t need a visa
You need to take the SAT and/or ACT. Then figure out what you can pay for college. Then create a well-balanced list of a variety of schools at different levels of selectivity. Apply to Harvard if you’d like and if your qualifications make it a not-unreasonable choice. But don’t count on it.
