I got a 1700 on my SAT (500 CR, 580 M, 620 W). I plan on taking 3 AP's senior year, will have 2 or 3 years of sports, 10 hours community service, work experience, and a 3.8+ GPA

They’re all reaches at the moment. Retake the SAT in the fall.

Chance me back: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1662008-2-8-gpa-2000-first-time-sat-urm-umass-amherst-others-ea.html#latest

bump

What state do you live in? I’d say that your stats would make any of them high-matches from within state (apart from ultra-selective programs like engineering), but reaches from out-of-state. Is that a weighted or unweighted GPA? My son applied to UWashington-Seattle as a NJ resident, and was waitlisted. His unweighted GPA was 3.3-3.4, weighted was around 4.0 (possibly slightly higher, depending on weighting method). He had a 2060 SAT, and 31 ACT, with monster ECs. We were surprised, because he got into UC San Diego and Davis, which are supposed to be more selective. He applied to the regular Arts & Sciences college.

All are reaches if youre out of state for all. I would reccomend getting an 1850+ for Penn State, 1800+ for RU, or a 2000+ for UWash. You would be good for RU or PSU if you were instate for either

Agree with everyone. Study a lot for the SAT and get more volunteer hours this summer.
