Hi I’m currently a senior in high school and I plan on applying SFSU. I have a 3.6 GPA and scored a 1390 on the SAT (i plan to retake). The only issue I have is that I don’t want to take Precalc my senior year but I’m scared I will lower my chances of getting in. Any reccomendations?
Senior grades are not considered in CSU admissions. They are only used to maintain your provisional admit and as long as you do not receive a D or F in the Pre-Calc class, you should be fine. SFSU is a Match/High match and a increase in your SAT will definitely help. Good Luck.
As long as you complete the a-g matrix, SF State doesn’t care about your Sr schedule… Take a different math class.
SF State (and most other CSUs) uses a simple formula to create an Eligibility Index and rank their applicants. You don’t provide enough info for me to calculate yours but, it’s simple enough if you follow these instructions.

Unless you are a local applicant, a 3300 will do the trick most majors. You are probably in good shape - but do the math yourself to be sure.
A 3.6 GPA suggest you could do much better on a standardized test, study a bit and re-take the SAT and look into the ACT.
Good luck
