I'm about to complete my first semester in community college. I'm taking Sociology, Health, Psychology, and English. My grades are: A, A, B, B. Next semester I'm taking most of the required classes like Anthropology, Mircroeconomics, etc. I'm pretty sure I can ace most of those maybe a B here and there especially because I was slightly distracted this past semester. I want to transfer to UCLA. I've been hearing that Global Studies isn't that big right now and my sisters friend got in a few years back with a 3.1. Any info or advice???

You can only apply for when you’ll enter UCLA as a junior, which is at least a year from now. Be sure that you have completed all the IGETC requirements by the time you’d be enrolling at UCLA. If your college is one of the Transfer Alliance Program colleges (see [UCLA - Transfer Alliance Program](http://www.tap.ucla.edu/schools.htm)) then your odds are better if you join the program.

UCLA admissions has a chart showing applied/admitted GPA. From CCs they show the average admitted GPA in 2010 was 3.7; as you’re aware, admissions gets more competitive each year and that 3.1 a few years back might not do it anymore.

Thank you very much.

Anymore advice or comments?

Your good bro, ive seen people get in with lower, btw chance me please, thanks

My main question would be, do applicants have a higher chance of being admitted because of their major (Global Studies)? Doesn’t seem impacted one bit etc.

Who told you the major “Doesn’t seem impacted one bit etc.”?

On the UCLA web it says
And almost none of the other majors say that about changing after admission, so I think your strategy may not be as good as you hoped.
