Hello all,

The stress has eaten me up to the point of desperately needing all of your advice!

I am applying to UCLA as a Global Studies major through Santa Monica's scholars program with Geography as my back-up.

I had a 3.78 until I found out that a C i received in a college class I took while in high school has to count in my GPA--it brought me down to a 3.56. I realize that this is now incredibly low for Global Studies majors.

I am wondering if I should just apply with Geography as my main major or do they consider the second major if they reject you from the first? And do you think they will care about the C if i explain the situation?

I am also applying to USC as a International Relations major. What do you think my chances are there?

EC's are solid, essays are solid. Thanks!

I don’t see why you have to stress. I don’t know how impacted your major is, but to my understanding of GPA I would say a 3.5 is good. And I think you did what it took to prove to the university that you are better than that C; I mean, after all you carry a 3.5.

Now, as far as UCLA is concerned it is best for you to google UCLA admit rates of particular majors, if you hadn’t done so.

Best of luck!

Unfortunately for me my major is highly impacted with the 2010 admitted class maintaining an average GPA of a 3.91. I appereciate your support! I just dont think my GPA is now strong enoguh to apply for said major.

Chance me!

Based on your GPA, your planned IGETC / TAG completion (assuming you do this), volunteering and tutoring, I’ve compiled your chances of acceptance into an algorithm that I run against other applicants. According to my calculations, you have a 56.75% chance of being accepted, with a plus or minus 1.5% margin of error.

Anybody else need to be chanced?
