I am applying for the University of North Carolina School of the Arts for drama. I have really solid monologues and songs. However, my resume probably isn’t as long as many others. I have really only been doing theater for three years and participated in seven plays, yet I have over a 4.0 and a 1730 on the SAT. Will my lack of “experience” hurt my chances?
I think they look most for your performance in the monologues and interview. When you have the interview, you should be prepared to talk about such things as your roles and experience and how it has impacted you, what your goals are, and how you feel you can benefit from an education at UNCSA. Good luck!
hey there - UNCSA does not accept you based on your resume. I currently go to UNCSA and there are people in my class who have been on Broadway, in major motion pictures and tv shows, and had agents. But there is quite a few of us, myself included, who hadnt done ANY professional work before coming here. I never had an agent. It is all based on your audition as well as your interview. The people who will be auditioning you are incredibly kind and warm teachers. They want you, more than anything, to be yourself. I know that sounds hard and scary. But go into that audition room with your head held high. If you are meant to be here, you will be accepted. I promise.
