Chances of Getting into University of Pittsburgh

Hey guys,

So I want your guys' opinion on how I stack up so I can get into the University of Pittsburgh as a transfer student.

I just finished my 2nd year at a top university studying biomedical engineering. It was a struggle because of the workload and material as well as my own fault as I couldn't balance my social life and academic life very well. My first year I did alright by my standards. I got a 2.45 at the end of my freshman year getting C's and B's and an A in Intro class for Chemistry, Physics and Calculus. My sophomore year was where I had a real struggle. I wanted SO badly to bring my GPA up. Our department gave the students a checklist of classes we should take and when they recommend to take them. My fall semester I ended up taking 19 credits. These courses included Organic Chemistry, Linear Algebra, Differential Equations and my departments version of Molecular Cell Biology. It was a rough semester and I got an F in 3 of my 5 courses. After that semester I was placed on academic probation. The following semester I was only allowed to take 12-15 credits. I decided to take the minimum of 12, barely making me a full time student. For my department, sophomore spring and junior fall are the hardest semesters because of the courses we have to take. In the spring, I took Linear Algebra again as well as two "intro" courses to biomedical engineering. I ended up barely scraping by the two engineering courses with a C and a C+ but again I failed Linear Algebra. I was 2% points away from a D but my professor didn't want to help me and raise my grade. Anyways, because I didn't earn 12 credits and I didn't earn more that a 2.0, I was placed on academic suspension. I took Linear Algebra during the summer at my home institution and earned a B, but that was the third time. My GPA suffered and is below a 2.0.

Because I am placed on academic suspension, I have the opportunity to apply for readmission; however, I have to write a letter stating what was wrong, what I have done since I was suspended and what my plan will be to be academically successful if I am allowed re-entry.

So far, I know what went wrong and I have a plan of action. However, I am looking at other options just in case I am denied re-entry. I applied to be a non-degree seeking student to Carnegie Mellon and was accepted. I am taking one course there now.

I applied to Pitt before and was accepted. What are my chances of being accepted again?

Thanks a bunch!

Your chances are very high of being accepted again! Don’t worry and chance me back plz
