Also, just curious, what do you guys think my chances are if I do SCEA HYP ?

^ And Columbia as well sry.

Upenn: Low Reach
Duke: Reach

Chance me back?

@collegebound5687 Do you really think Duke is harder to get into than Upenn. Most people tell me otherwise, so I thought Duke would also be a low reach/match.

Well, I think you have great leadership positions! Can you also tell me what HOSA exactly is because I was thinking about opening it my school. The ACT is great also! The GPA is also good too, Overall you have a great shot! What also is FBLA, I was also thinking about opening that too!

You are an Asian and you don’t really have something that stands out in terms of activities. I would say penn is a high reach

I think your stats look great, and you definitely have some good awards.
You do have some good extracurriculars, but nothing that really stands out majorly.
I would recommend that you really work on your essays.

And regarding the African American girl with a legacy, it could hurt your chances, since you are essentially competing with your classmates because colleges allot a certain number of admits for each school. I feel like she might have an easier time getting in than you, BUT, if her grades are mediocre…how mediocre? Like, 3.5 GPA & 1800 SAT?

But overall, I would say —
Duke: Low Reach
Penn: Reach

@ sergiok, Thanks for the feedback! But I dont really know what HOSA is or FBLA is haha, since Ive never been involved in either of those activities throughout high school. Sry :(

It’s okay! :)Hey, do you think my work experience on my JHU chance is good?

Well, since most of your jobs are related to your family business, Im not sure how that would work out for you. But nevertheless, its better than having nothing like a lot of others.

Yeah. that’s true! Do you think I have enough awards or should I try to get more?

@alexmass, do you really think that UPenn is a high reach for me? I was counting on my leaderships in clubs along with good grades and SATs and numerous awards to be enough to get in.

@qdgurrrl , I would estimate her SATs to be around 2000ish, but I dont really know any of her actual stats. I was just curious because on the UPenn website, it states that UPenn doesnt only take a certain number of students from each school, and wanted to hear what people had to say on that about if thats actually true or not.

@ sergiok, I would advise you to try to get more meaningful awards. You listed out a ton of awards, but several of them such as “22nd Place overall out of 34 teams in the 2013 Connecticut State Science Olympiad at the University of Connecticut in Storrs, Connecticut” wont really help much in grabbing college’s attention.

Thank for you for the feedback! Hopefully I’ll get into JHU! I also hope the same for you! Upenn, you got this!

You have really strong academics and ECs! What stood out the most to me were your leadership positions and awards. It’s also great that you did so much community service. However, you don’t have much for science if that’s what you’re going into. Also, it’s true that the Ivies are crapshoots, so it’s hard to tell who they’re going to choose. But I think you have a good chance for getting into at least one of your picks!

bumpbumpbump

I’d say you have a pretty solid chance, you just need to make sure you write good essays!

Good luck!
