Your GPA is the only thing that makes Penn a reach for you, however your strong ECs would make this a low reach for you. Good luck though!
- Again your GPA is your weak point, but that's okay
- Your test scores are awesome!
- Your ECs are where it's at and you have a multitude of things - very diverse
- I'm sure your essays are very strong & recs are clearly good
- I think you're a perfect candidate for Penn and honestly it's okay that you take honors precalc, it happens. I had to double up on math because I was taking IB mathematical studies
- I hope you got an interview! Mine is this Sunday (kinda nervous)
- In the end, just remember that numbers don't define a person. It sounds like you're an amazing kid and I hope you get in. If you don't, it's not the end of the world :)
I’d say low reach. While your application isn’t “perfect”, there are obviously a lot of impressive portions of it. I personally don’t think that an ivy can be a match for anyone, so at low reach you have just as good of a shot as anyone.
Your experience in Russia is awesome and truly sets you part. I think your international experience/ prospective will really help you in the admissions process. Hopefully you gotta phenomenal essay
I think your GPA is below what most accepted applicants have, however I think your ECs and other aspects make up for it. The final result really depends on your essay and how they view your ECs.

What I haven’t seen mentioned here, and I think is crucial, is the relationship your GC has with U Penn. I ss/he and alumnus? Has your school sent a number of grads there? Will she pick up the phone and advocate for you? The component can be a game changer. She can "chance’ you by calling the regional rep, explaining who you are, you GPA, your ECs, you polyglot status, and your tenacity–and then getting a read from the rep on how you will look in the application pool as an ED candidate. If the answer is less than encouraging, do not waste your ED shot, if your GC gets a positive feel, then you have more to go on. Thr GC factor is Big here. Or your principal. . . .
@SherBear This thread was started last December; at this point admissions decisions have long been made. Closing thread.
