I have a 3.72 GPA (with a downward trend in junior year), have taken all the hardest courses at my school (10 APs (received 2s, 3s, 4s, and 5s) and 5 Honors), have a 2370 sat score and 2400 super score, and am a national merit semifinalist. I have been involved in science fair, mock trial, and forensics for 4 years and have gone to state in each. I have also been involved in national honor society, spanish honor society, csf, math club, and science bowl. I have been to COSMOS science camp one summer and interned at a hospital another ( I plan on going into the medical field). I am also taking 2 classes online at ohs Stanford and took a biology class at the local csu. Would you say I have some chances of getting into UPenn (school of arts and sciences)?
Your test scores and extracurricular actives are AMAZING. Also, a rigorous academic curriculum of yours proves that you want to be a high achiever. Unfortunately, you’re not a high achiever, as noted obviously on your GPA.
Most colleges review college applications in several steps. During the initial view of your application, they’ll solely use your GPA, SAT/ACT, and transcript. Afterwards, they’ll put you in a certain pile to divide the applicants into different categories. UPenn will just put you in a low-GPA category after the initial view, and it then immediately decreases your chance of admission.
If you’re applying to Penn, your chance of admission is very very low. If you’ve already applied to Penn as ED, your chance is also very low.
Try applying to different schools that don’t judge solely on your GPA, like UC Berkeley.
