Chances of getting to an Ivy League?

I have been unable to take any AP classes since freshmen and Junior year. I am planning to take AP classes senior year. The reason why I was unable to take AP classes was because I transfered to my high school as a sophomore and my guidance counselor would not allow me to take A.P. classes and junior year I had taken Math Research and Science Research which made my program too full to take a A.P. class. But my senior year I am planning on taking AP Calculus, AP Biology and AP English. Will I still get into a ivy league school, if I have decent SAT I scores and SAT II?

You could, just make sure you mention that on your transcript.

You shouldn't pick a school just because it's ivy league. All of the schools in the ivy league are very different and applying to all would make no sense, unless you were only doing it for prestige.

i agree with spanks; figure out which fit is best for you by visiting schools and seeing if you like urban, rural, remote city (ithaca! :D), big, small, warm, cold, etc. Then apply to schools that match your qualifications.

All that said, yes, APs are not absolutely necessary, especially when you have a legitimate reason like a difficult guidance counselor. Good Luck!

"Will I still get into a ivy league school, if I have decent SAT I scores and SAT II?"

Are you implying that there was a 100% chance of you getting into an Ivy League School had you had AP classes? I have no idea how you made that prediciton...

There's much more to that equation to get into elite schools ,more than "decent SAT...". Its the total package you present. Not having AP scores until senior year gives you at best 1 semester worth of AP grades by time you apply for college. It may not be detrimental especially if you have done well. I think you might have a chance if you stress your committement to the programs you mention and explained why you were off the beaten path. Good luck.

good points both of you. Just to clarify what I meant, I basically interpreted your question as "will i still have a chance." Will you get in? nobody can say, but you will certainly have a fair chance at admission, ceteris paribus, given your AP situation.
