Chances of MIT and Carnegie Mellon Computer Science

Hello everyone! I am a high school Junior and I am not sure what school I would like to apply to for computer science. Listed below is some information about me:

4.88/5.33 Weighted GPA
3.89/4.0 Unweighted GPA

I have gotten all As or A-s (my school doesn’t give A+s) except for my first semester of freshman year where I got a B. I have also taken all honors or high honors courses at my school. I have taken every AP and high honors course my high school has to offer.

Extracurriculars/Achievements:
National Chinese Honors Society
Quaker State Best in Class Challenge (5th place nationally)
Internship -
Internship at an S&P500 company at the Business Technology Department department during 2018 summer
Michigan Electrify Summer Camp
Northwestern CTD Graphic Design Camp (Summer between 8th and 9th grade)

Boy Scouts (7 years) -
I am an Eagle Scout, and have held a lot of different leadership positions

Math Team (2-3 years) -
My performance was not too great, but I still participated for 2/3 years

Science Olympiad (3 years) -
My school has 2 campuses, and our freshman and sophomore/junior/senior teams are 2 different teams. During my freshman year I competed on the our one science Olympiad team, and I we made it to state. I did not do science olympiad sophomore year. My Junior year I am on our Varsity team, and judging from last years performance, we will get top 10 at nationals. During my senior year, I also plan to participate and be on the varsity science olympiad team.

Track (3.5 years) -
I participated in Junior Varsity track during my freshman and sophomore years. During my freshman year, I was invited to compete at sectionals, but it was cancel due to heavy rain. This year will be on Varsity track when I join next week.

Coding (10 years) -
Ive been coding for a very long time, and have 4 apps on the App Store, and know a lot of programming languages. I will probably write a lot of essays on this :slight_smile:

Chemistry SAT II: 780-800 (Haven’t taken yet, but I am in AP Chem which covers a lot of similar material)

So based on everything, what do you think my chances of getting into MIT and Carnegie Mellon School of Computer Science are?

What is your SAT or ACT score? You are a competitive applicant but there are many others with similar stats and ECs. If you are good at coding, why not try differentiating yourself and try making an app? Or perhaps find some software writing opportunities. Or enter into a hackathon contest. The competition for these schools, especially for computer scientists, is tough so you want to build on your ECs and develop more leadership skills as well as awards

Hi! My SAT score is 1530, and my practice ACTs are 35, but I haven’t taken an official one yet. I have made 4 apps for the iOS App Store, and want to make another one this summer. Also (I hope) my summer internship will involve some coding. I will also start looking into hackathons more seriously, as I have always wanted to, but never actually participated in one. Thanks for all the advice, and help!
