Chances of transferring to UC's?

Hi all,

So I just applied to ucsc by tagging. I would like to know my chances are since they have a minimum UC GPA of 3.0 to become accepted.

GPA 3.5, UC GPA 3.6
-Half Black, Cherokee
-First to go to a 4 year university in my family

  • Volunteer at hospital related to my future career.
-Belong to honors society at my school

I am also applying to uc merced, berkeley, and davis in the general filing period. What do you all think my chances are?

Thanks

Can’t help you much if you don’t specify your major.

Hey guys I was just wondering if I Will get into
Umass Dartmouth as a transfer with a 3.3 gpa? I’m
Currently in my 3rd semester of CC taking mechanical engineering classes and I have
Above the 24 credits you need so I don’t need any
Highschool records. I had a 3.78 gpa last semester
And made deans list the only reason my gpa is lower
Than it should be is because in the summer I got a
C- in a math class that I’m currently retaking. I was
Just wondering if I have a good shot at getting in

Make your own thread @vbader11. You are hijacking @futureuctransfer 's thread.

@futureuctransfer, I’m assuming you are instate?

Merced, yes. Davis is possible. Not possible for Berkeley because you are a reach.

UC’s can’t use affirmative action to admit, so ethnicity is not considered, but you would be a shoo-in for the privates! Why not consider them?

Are you an enrolled tribal member?

Thanks,

I have considered the private schools and I will apply. There are really great ones in the bay area its just the filing period is after the ucs. Its always good to keep my options open.

If i get a 3.7/8 my last semester is that still a reach for ucb?

Yes. ^

@futureuctransfer As @Orangered123 said we need to know your major. You would get into some majors, others might be a reach. Everything you are noting - first gen, under-represented minority - are in your favor. Berkeley has a program called TAP, specifically geared to supporting first gen, under-represented ethnicities through the transfer process. It has about an 80-85% transfer rate. Ask your advisor if your CCC has it.

Also, they only look at UC-transferable GPA. Yours is 3.6. Unless you have chosen an outrageously selective major, I believe you stand a good shot at Berkeley.

What is your major?
