chances to transfer below 3.0

im applying this fall and was wondering what my chances are to get into a uc below 3.0, i currently have a 2.94 and so i wont be elgible to tag, major is business administration and im going to apply to uci, ucr, ucsb, ucsd, and ucm, i will finish both my major pre req and igetc by next spring, any input would be appreciated

You still have 1 semester to bumb that GPA little bit higher and increase your chances. That said, you have a decent chance at getting into UCR and UCM, a small chance at getting into UCSB or UCSD. Forget about UCI. Their undergraduate business program is only a few years old and they only accept about 15 transfer students a year. Naturally, they only take 3.8+ students with excellent EC’s.

I think I can get my gpa up to around 3.1-3.2, do uc’s look at fall semester the same way as the previous 2?

And do TAP. I heard it’s a monster at up-ing your chances.

During your application in the Fall, you put down the courses that are currently in progress. Once you get your grades for Fall, you go back to your application and update the courses with the grades you received. To the extent of my knowledge, UC’s look at these grades the same as the the previous 2 semesters.

I thought TAP was only for UCLA?

@iwillflyby
TAP is not for the UCs he’s going to apply T___T

You do have a chance at UCM and UCR, though, as lakerace said. If you can bring your GPA to 3.3-3.4 by the end of Spring, you definitely have a good chance at UCSB/SC (even through the worst case scenario: wait-list and/or appeal :smiley: )

if he brings his gpa to a 3.3-3.4 he wouldnt even have to worry as he’ll TAG to one of the UCs. No point in bringing up your gpa to a 3.4 by the end of spring as you’ll already know if you got accepted or not by then.

Whatever it’s called. Wait. Not all CC’s have those. Like UCI and UCR transfers gets preferred admission from my CC. I don’t know. It’s TA-something. It’s like Scholar’s/Honor’s classes.

You can even TAG in Spring? lol
And he is going to apply this Fall
I just encourage him to bring his GPA to 3.3 - 3.4,so even after the decisions are released, he can still get in through wait-list, appeal

the answers wont change from the other day pal

& if you desire to go to any UC besides UC Merced & Riverside, you’ll need that 3.2 - 3.5

big boy leagues, 2.~ GPA in CC is bad, how will you handle UC? i can understand if some health issues or family problems, but if grasping concepts and applying principles an issue for you, you may need to fix that fast.

with the budget cuts at UC’s im sure they are just looking to let people go.

if not he could always go to the inferior csu schools

pretty much.

No, he can’t TAG, period. He’ll have a 2.94 GPA this October/November, below the TAG threshold. Once the Fall semester is over in December, he may have brought that up above 3.0, but the TAG filing period would have already been over. Therefore, UC’s will evaluate him based on his grades, which means he should try and get his GPA as high as possible next semester.

that bites, so that means he wont be able to start till fall 2013, use the time to work on lower div/upper div courses, so it will be worth the 2 years away.

^^ TAG applications are actually due in September FYI so don’t miss the deadline!

but i mean like he will have to wait to do his TAG next september for fall 2013 acceptance

The TAG gpa for guaranteed admission, so the general admission gpa will still be lower. But, you want to get your gpa as close as possible to that particular school’s TAG gpa.

@UCKitty

Unless they accept him for Fall 2012 as a regular admit. Otherwise, yes, he’ll have to wait until 2013 for guaranteed acceptance.
