Chances of UMKC?

Alright, during high school I made the decision to help run my uncles company during high school, and didn't think I would have to really work hard in high school. So I pretty much just went to school and showed up, and I never did any homework. I know it's the worst mistake I think I have ever made. I also didn't think I would be able to afford going to college, but then my grandparents are wanting to pay for all of the grand kid's college. So in the past year or so I've been job shadowing dentists (My grandfather is a dentist) and I love everything about it. I've also attended a community college for the past semester to see if it's the right thing for me.

I graduated high school 6th out of 52 students in my class with a 2.6 GPA, very small school. After this semester of college I have 10 credit hours with a 3.6 GPA. I'm also getting ready to take the ACT the 9th of February, due to a motorcycle accident I've had to put it off.

What are my chances of getting accepted by UMKC with a decent College gpa and an awful high school gpa?

If there's any other information that you need to know, just ask. Thanks for your time, and I really appreciate it!

I hope the college GPA will help you quite a bit. In that case I will chance you on the average of the two credentials. Thus I might be completely off but this is the best I can do.

UMKC: Get 23+ on the ACT for best chance (25+ preferred)

Thanks for your input. I’ll try my best to get a 25+. I just suck at math, but I do very well with English and science. But I’m taking a practice test tomorrow so we’ll see.

Any other thoughts?

Are there any other opinions? Be honest, it won’t hurt my feelings!

Also, would I have a better chance of going to a university closer to home, that’s more lenient with my high school grades? Where I can get my college gpa up, and then I won’t have to send my high school transcript.

Or are schools less likely to take in a transfer student?
