I'm currently a junior in high school, who has had a fairly tumultuous few years in high school, due to some health problems (chronic daily migraines). Due to my health problems, I have missed quite a bit of school, and as a result my grades have suffered. My current weighted cGPA is a 3.08 and my unweighted cGPA is 2.95. I mostly get B's, but had two classes (both math classes) that I outright failed and retook over the summer virtually, and one class which I failed that I have not retaken (Chem B), but I will be taking AP Chem next year.

I took APUSH last year and got a 4 on the exam, and also got B's each trimester (which became A's after being weighted). This year I am taking AP Psych, and AP US Gov, both of which I received a B in last trimester (which are A's after being weighted). All of my other classes are normal level classes.

I recently took the ACT for the first time, and I received a 31, I also recently took the SAT and scored 2000. In addition to that, last year I singlehandedly managed a local school board campaign that received considerable local coverage due to civil rights issues in my school.

I have been promised strong letters of recommendation from all of my AP teachers, from a prominent civil rights attorney who I have done volunteer work with (who is a U of M grad), from two U of M med school graduates, and from my vice principal. In addition to the letters of rec, all five of my physicians have already written letters explaining the difficulties that my medical condition has caused, and my vice principal has also agreed to write a letter explaining the impact upon my education that my medical condition has had.

Am I right in thinking that I have a very slim chance of getting into a respectable school like the University of Michigan? What colleges can I reasonably expect to get into, and how badly will those schools impact my chances of getting into med school?

Thanks,
