chances- out of state

I am currently a junior in high school in North Carolina and UCSB is my top choice. I plan to major in pharmacology and I think UCSB is the best school (and one of the only schools) for that. These are my current statistics so what do you think my chances are?

I am in the IB diploma program however I took 5 AP classes as a sophomore

UC GPA: 4.2
ACT: 33 (will take one more time because science was at a 28 which brought my composite down)
SAT: 2150 (assuming I raise my ACT to a 34-35 I will likely not submit this)

Varsity tennis- 4 years
Piano- 13 years (I have done many competitions and shows as well)
Work- tutoring center and Chick fil a 30 hours a week (parents refuse to pay for college/car etc.)
Special Olympics volunteer
FBLA officer- 2 years, won state competition 2 years and will be competing at nationals this year, member 4 years
Speech and debate- member 4 years.
Science Olympiad- won regionals, member 3 years
Science national honor society- Hopefully officer next year, active member 3 years
Bollywood dance club- VP
Caring 4 kids club- officer 3 years

You seem like a great candidate (academics, EC’s, etc.).

However, this concerns me:

“parents refuse to pay for college/car etc.”

If your parents refuse to pay for your education, how do you plan on covering the OOS fee ($23,000 per year)? You can only take out 5500 freshman/6500 soph/7500 junior/7500 senior in loans, and UC’s already apply these towards room/board. For more loans, your parents would have to cosign/make themselves partially responsible. The Regents Scholarship might help, but competition is tough (top 1% of applicants only). Outside scholarships could help too, but they’re often small & non-renewable…

DO apply, but keep costs in mind!

With your resume you could get merit scholarships/honors/etc. Someone with stats like yours got regents from my school.
