Hi! I’m also applying to UW this fall! I would say your SAT scores and GPA are adequate. However, your extracurriculars are quite weak. UW places a lot of emphasis on leadership, involvement, and community service and I think your application would benefit a lot from those things. I have many classmates that have stellar SAT scores and GPAs but end up getting rejected by UW. It’s a little too late to start getting involved in leadership and community service… But if you have the time, I would make sure to make your essays strong. Best of luck!

PS. If you want my honest opinion, I would say that getting into honors may be a little tough. Applicants usually have 2100+ SAT scores and at least 3.9 UW GPAs. However, you know yourself better than I do. If you think it’s worth the time for extra essays, you can always try. Also, make sure to research what people say about the Honors Program. I had many friends do it their first year and then drop out because they felt it was completely pointless.

Thanks! That helped alot!
I dont think I can get into honors, my stats arent strong and the essay topics arent something I can write about well. I dont think I’ll apply for it.

That’s what I thought, my parents say I should, because I have nothing to lose, but I’m losing time and energy on doing the extra work, especially since this isn’t my top school and honors is a high reach.

Parents think its so easy! They should try juggling everything we normally do and add college apps on top…
If its not your top choice, just do regular admission. Honors won’t be worth it unless you’re really interested in it anyway. The work doesn’t just end once you get in. I’ve heard it’s a lot of extra work.
