Recs:
I'll be able to get an exceptional one, as my English teacher has known me for two years and hinted that she would be happy to give me a rec. The other one will be decent, but not as good

Applying to: UCB, UCLA, UCSD, Stanford, Cornell, UChicago, Rice, MIT

If you’re full pay and achieve these stats, no UC should be a problem. But the privates here will be tough unless you find a genuine way to stand out.

Sorry but I’m really not familiar with the UCs. I think you have a really good chance at Cornell. Lower chance at Stanford and MIT just b/c they’re so competitive but your 800 on the math and experience with math team will help at MIT. Good luck!

Thanks for the responses all I think my USAMO chances are 50-50. I made AIME in freshman year and was the school winner, so they kicked me up to AMC 12 in sophomore year… I messed up, pretty badly. Anybody else with math competition experience/advice?

Your EC’s are somewhat lacking/not impressive, so the higher end schools like Stanford, Cornell, UChicago, and MIT may not like that. But test scores and GPA are awesome. You’re in for the UC’s and have a decent chance for Rice, but to compensate for those EC’s (grades and test scores won’t do this AT ALL), you need spectacular essays.
