Hi Everyone!
U of I is my dream school. I've been told that it may be a slight reach, but i would like to hear your opinions. I attend an extremely competitive private school in Chicago, that sends many grads to top schools. Looking to apply to LAS? (Any recommendations?)
Here are my stats:

3.27 GPA unweighted. Huge upward trend, junior year. 25 Act (21 Math, 22 Science, 28 English, 29 Reading) Super score is a 26. Re-taking later this month.

Extra-Curriculars:
Intern at congressional office for over a year.

Student Council Class President (Freshman and Sophomore Year) Secretary, Junior year. Senior officer.

Member of Honor Council Sophomore year. (Most prestigious "club" at school) Only representative from my class. I was chosen by faculty as someone who had academic/moral integrity. We dealt out punishments to those who violated the Honor Code. Club was disbanded after my first year.

Co-captain of the Baseball Team, Junior Year. Honorable mention all-conference. Planning on playing this year.

Model UN-4 Years

Chosen this year to be one of the two coordinators of a Senior Mentor program, which is available to Freshman.

Any advice would be very much appreciated!!
Thank you for taking the time to read this :)

I’m in-state as well, and I’d be a bit cautious about your GPA/ACT combo. U of I is a really stats-oriented school in terms of admissions, and that combo definitely places you in the lower 25% of a typical freshman class on both counts; perhaps take the ACT one more time, shooting for a 27 or 28? Even for LAS, the one or two points could make the difference.

First, apply. Try to get all materials in by the priority application deadline. Wiz is correct. U of I first looks at your academic and standardized test scores, but they are not the only things considered. The whole application is reviewed, and upward grade trends are a plus, and your extra-curriculars are strong. But with your current GPA, and ACT score (UIUC doesn’t superscore), you’d have to consider it a reach. You definitely have a chance though. The only way you’ll know for sure is too get that application in. Good luck.

You are automatically considered for DGS, if you are not admitted to your program of choice. You really would have been better off, in my opinion, applying directly to a program in LAS, if you had any interest at all in a specific area. It’s not held against you, if you don’t make it to LAS when determining whether to make you a secondary offer for DGS.

oh, it was fairly late when I was typing that, no, I applied like at 10pm on Nov 1st lol. My stuff came in a bit late, but the lady said they will change it to priority!! yay :D
