any scholarships/money i could get?

It depends on what undergraduate college of Cornell's to which you want to apply. Edit: Right, I forgot. Communications is in CALS.
Also, Cornell does not give out any merit or athletic scholarships - only need-based financial aid.

Get those scores up! They will make you a lot more competitive, providing a more balanced application. The less you give them to worry about, the more they can focus on the unique traits that you possess.

Perhaps provide some focus as to what moves you, in terms of extracurricular activities. Looks like you are big into French and tennis, but I'm not quite sure. You don't want the adcom to view you in the same light. Either in your common app essay or your supplement, I would just reiterate was you are truly passionate about.

Other than that, you look like a great applicant. The best of luck to you!

jvizzle- i do am very involved in the FHS and Tennis, and i would let that show on my app.

now how much do you guys think that URM would help.

and the act's not taking them again. CANNOT get any better than that. Im a pretty bad test-taker. Took me 4 monthns to get that 28. There is no time for me to prepare for the test again.

I appreciate all of your opinions. Please keep posting!

URM status would definitely help. Because you're ACT scores are right on the edge and everything else seems to be in order, it may even push you over to an acceptance! Keep the hope alive buddy!

"Took me 4 monthns to get that 28. " It might very well be that test-taking is not your strong suit. Perhaps in one of your essays you can work this in, albeit in a low key manner. Although it may not be the highest, it certainly is the best you can do.

Everything is great, especially your ethnicity (sucky for me, b/c I'm Asian). But only one thing you can do: raise your ACT. And since most of your scores (28, 28, 28, 26) are pretty close together, you can definitely work on them.

I'm not familiar with the ACT, but I doubt 2 points will really make a huge difference...this kid is a Hispanic immigrant, recently learned English, they'll take that into account when evaluating him. His reading comp/writing skills are pretty good for someone who learned English recently. Other than the ACT, everything else is amazing...just write amazing essays, and get your English teacher to proofread them for you. Good luck!

thanks to everyone. i feel a bit more confident in applying.

keep posting.... the more the better.

p.s anyone knows ahow does Cornell manages their money? is it a lot of loans, grants, scholarships..etc.

JPcomm- Your background as a Hispanic immigrant who has recently learned English will be a HUGE factor in the admissions decision. I think that since everything else is so solid and your ACT English/Reading scores aren't bad (especially for someone who learned English a few years ago) you may actually have a good shot at Cornell. The fact that you're not only a URM but also an immigrant who has made the most of his American education will help you tremendously.

time to bump/ bump/ bump..........

Hey, your application is quite rock-solid; one of the most exemplary I've seen for Cornell so far. I'm not expert, but I think you have a considerably good chance of getting in, especially considering your ethnicity along with your academic success. My only advice is to try to get your standardized test scores higher if possible, as they seem to be the only obvious weakness in your resume.

But it any case, good luck, and hope for the best!
