Chances Please!

I've already been accepted at the University of Michigan, I'm just shooting for something better. (I'm not insane, don't worry)

hahahahahaha, you'll never get in.

Your scores are simply not high enough.

Get them up, will yeh?

I mean, you can probably raise it about 100 points by next Friday.

It's people like you that make me realize "what the hell was I thinking" when I applied to Yale.

So yes, I believe you have a really good chance!

lol good luck!

Some of you people need to chill out big time. I am always amazed at the audacity of some stupid high school student, thinking he is riding a white horse, giving advice and evaluating other students credentials in such an arrogant and authoritarian tone, as it's seen rampant through CC.

The truth of the matter is that someone with such a nasty karma as "the one who shall not be named" may just be trying to discourage MUCH BETTER qualified applicants from applying in order to improve his lame chances of admission. But........do not fear......because karma always follows..... Afterall, dictators never have a good ending...

^OH OK, whatever keeps you from touching yourself at night dude.

I think your chances are good, but your scores might hurt you a little. good luck!

EAD......No comment dude.

haha, i thought i'd revive my old chances thread, to see what people think. I attend Yale.

Congratulations! See...you proved to the world that scores ARE NOT everything! Way to go!

you're my hero!
ahahahahahahah
man, but now i have a stupid question: ok, you have a lot of awards and commendations, got really involved with your ECs, but how can you show that in your application? I mean, do you fill out only the EC thing in the Common Application or do you submit an extra brag sheet? In which part of your application do you write about all of your accomplishments during your high schools? the awards section and the EC section of the Common Application don't allow you to write you a lot...

I gave my resume with all that information to my counselor. She included a lot of that info in her recommendation and put a copy of the resume along with the required papers she had to send out. i also included some information in the supplemental section of the common app, and managed to incorporate a lot of my activities into other essays.

I also sent in supplemental letters of recommendation from my violin teacher and my tennis coach (although I don't know if this is a good or bad idea).

thanks, man!
that was something i had been wondering a lot, because i don't think the common application provides space enough for you to mention all your accomplishments and awards...

Hey rd31. Congrats on your success! I'm also doing IB so im wondering if you could share with us your IB subjects and their respective predicted grades? Thanks!

I didn't go for the IB diploma because I went to a magnet school for math and science, where the classes were AP. However, I received a 6 on IB Spanish HL, a 6 on IB English HL, and a 7 on IB History HL.

thanks for the reply. So am I correct to say you completed four APs and three IB HL subjects? How were your APs? Btw, your ECs are absolutely stunning!

You have lots of EC, which is good. Shows your interest for many things and dedication to stick with it all. Your piano achievements aren't extremely amazing for the level of competition for piano in Michigan, so I'm assuming many of your other awards/distinctions may be the same. Good luck though, I think you have a chance.

^^ the OP is already going to Yale...

Of course! 2200 is a horrible score, nowhere near Yale's average...

Haha, um, Emiiliye, the OP got into Yale two years ago. This thread was revived to show that "Chance" threads aren't necessarily an accurate representation of the person behind the stats. (And usually the people that comment them don't really know what they're talking about, including me.) But it's ok, at first I thought it was a future SCEA's chance thread too. C:

Kyledavid, we're twins!

I saw a report on the stats of the class of '12 and someone got in with a 540ish on the math section. Which gives hope to those of us who hate math with a passion!

Kyledavid, he got that 2200 by combining the highest averages from two tests...he didn't score that high in a single sitting. Furthermore, I was referring to the fact that he didn't have a plethora of AP scores to report on his application. (Two 4s...compared to 8+APs and 2200+ on a single sitting that many other applicants receive, I say that scores most certainly are not everything...did you see all of those ECs?)

I know someone with a 480 who got into Stanford this year. D:

Your point? That's what Yale does--it takes the highest single-sitting scores. The AP scores are fine as well--they aren't really used as a factor for admission. So the OP's scores, all in all, were great.
