Work Experience
Work at a private company that develops practice standardized tests (MCA's) for Minnesota (grades 6,7,10,11) and helps struggling schools meet goals that grant them government money, I make many of these tests which are currently utilized by over 100 schools in the state.
*Extremely good letter of recommendation from boss.
*Volunteer to assist schools (mostly struggling minority schools) in implementing these tests
*Schools that have used tests assisted in developing as well as assisted in the classroom (voluntarily) showed significant improvements

Good recommendations.
Essays will be good.

I know its a trash GPA but i'm hoping that a 4.0 3rd tri junior year will help my chances? (show I can succeed), as well as my unique work experience.

Anywho, i'm thinking of applying to the following: (Probably add another safety)

Reach: Brown, Dartmouth, UCLA, Duke
Match?: Vanderbilt, UW Madison, Pepperdine, UF Miami
Safety: UM Twin Cities

Any of the reaches completely unreasonable? Anything else off? Just wondering!
THANKS FOR YOUR TIME

being an asian male with 3.45 uw gpa might hurt ya a bit, but based on your SAT scores and your EC/Work experience, you have great shots at UCLA, reaches for Ivies and Duke though.

I can report my race as caucasian as well (1/2 and 1/2) if that would be beneficial to me

or you could decline to answer

True.

Additionally, to be honest the colleges that I would most like to go to are U of Madison Wisconsin (Legacy- mother, uncle, grandfather), Pepperdine, and Vanderbilt. Are all of these matches for me?

I'm not sure it would. Both those races are pretty much the majority at all those colleges. You have a good shot at UCLA, but I heard UC acceptances are really random and being out of state hurts.

The Ivies and Duke is a reach as said, and UCLA might be a bit of a reach.

bump.......

We have extremely similar stats.

Asian or White, I don't think your reaches will happen with GPA/rank. Tje second group also wants top 10%, but with your good SATs I would think 1 or more may accept you. Especially Wisconsin if they are allowed to consider legacy (I don't know, but many state schools can't).

My #1 choice is Pepperdine. Is this a reach or a match for me?

^ can anyone answer that?

slight reach

XJchayX:

UCLA: Slight Reach (out of state)
