Chances, please

I am NERVOUS over here. Still awaiting decisions from my top 3 choices (BU, Skidmore, and Columbia) and I don't know what to do with myself other than ask for some chances at those 3 schools.

ACT: 25. (32 English, 26 Reading, 24 Science [my second time], 20 Math)
GPA: 3.1/4
Ranking: School doesn't rank.
ECs: Hospital volunteer for 2 summers, worked as a teaching assistant at temple from 8-12th grade, peer tutor for disabled students at my school (2 yrs), interned at a nonprofit organization in 9th grade
Awards/honors: Special Commendation for an MLK Essay, my Junior Thesis was nominated for the Kennedy Prize, I received an award for my volunteer work,
Recommendations: Supposedly, they were very good -- that was noted in a scholarship I received from one of the schools I applied to.
Major applied for: English or Psych

Do you have any hooks? URM, First-gen, legacy???

I’m a white female, so no URM/legacy. However, my essays talked about how I overcame personal mental health struggles and how that’s the reason for my less-than-stellar academic record.

Did you apply for FA?

Nope, my mom determined that we probably would not be eligible for any.

That will help you quite a bit (Skidmore is not need-blind). If you have a rising trend with the GPA (like junior and senior year is 3.4+) you have a decent shot. Skidmore is also known for liking to see interest so if you interviewed & visited it will help, and it sounds like you’ve demonstrated interest in the school.

I do have a rising trend, although I’m not sure what my GPA is currently (I believe it’s still somewhere around 3.1-3.2, since math is my weakest point and consistently brings my GPA down).

Had no idea they weren’t need-blind, though. Thanks for the response!
