Chances? Really excellent! I would also guess that you are an prime candidate for a Heald or University Scholarship and may even be a candidate for a Camras Scholarship. Where do you stand in your graduating class?

I am a professor and undergraduate adviser at IIT but I am speaking for myself and not officially on behalf of the university. If I had any say I’d let you in just because I am sure that there are not enough tuba players at IIT–not that we have a band or anything, but I still think we need more low brass players just because y’all have a certain level of confidence and flair that would help make IIT a better place.

You have a very good chance of being accepted. You will probably receive the highest level scholarship also, and maybe the Camras Scholarship. I am actually a Camras scholar at IIT now, so if you have any questions about the university or what exactly the different scholarships are then feel free to PM me. I have a pretty good idea of how the admissions go, but like the professor above me said, I also can’t speak for the university.

And in regards to music (particularly low brass) at IIT. We have a partnership with a music school that is on campus called Vandercook College of Music. They have their bands open to IIT students, so if you wanted to continue with band you can always join one of the bands they have there (they have a lot of different ones).

Best of luck to you! It’s good that you are already asking questions in your college search.
