Chances POR FAVOR and help me narrow down my list! Thanks!

Hi guys, I'm a rising senior who would like to have my chances assessed for the schools on my very long preliminary college list. I realize that the list is EXTREMELY unbalanced, with likely reaches far outweighing the likely matches and safeties. This is because there are very few schools between my safety (UT) and my likely reaches that I would like to attend.

I have 14 schools on this list. I would also appreciate it if you guys can help me narrow it down to anywhere between 12 to 8 schools in addition to assessing my chances. I am currently thinking of eliminating Notre Dame, UPenn, Stanford, and Boston College. Thanks!

congrats on great \stats
thanks for chancing me

Great stats, GPA, etc, but your rank is a bit low. As long as there is a definite upward trend, then you should be okay, but I don’t know if I can see Princeton taking someone in the 40s. They go for those kids in the top 10, mostly top 5. However, that is not definite at all. I think that you must have better scores than most kids above you, and if so, then you should be all set. If not, your school is ridiculous lol. Also, have you taken mostly honors and AP courses? That could be key as well.

Good chance at all!wow…chance me back at http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/742785-chance-me-ed-jhu-duke-rd-emory.html

Hmm i mean you have a decent shot at all except maybe Princeton and Penn. Top 10% auto accept at UT  jw why is rice not on your list??

I don’t have Rice on my list because I’d like to get out of state if possible  Thanks for all of the replies so far!

Don’t you guys think that my class rank would be a huge detriment for the upper-tier schools like Cornell, Brown, and etc?

rank doesn’t matter, so many valedictorians apply. They look at test scores and grades a lot. But then so many people apply with near perfect test scores and grades that they look at extra curriculars. You have great extracurriculars so you are good in that area.

I don’t know if Princeton and Stanford take superscores. Cornell and Brown do but I’ve heard HYPS don’t.

Cornell University- match
University of Chicago- IDK
University of Notre Dame- match
Carnegie-Mellon- low match

congrats on all of your stats! and you’ve got a good list, with plenty of matches, reaches, and schools you stand a good chance!

I think you have a great shot at all but Princeton (high reach but possible!) You have great stats and ec’s.

NYU: Match
Johns Hopkins: Match
Georgetown: Low Reach
Boston College: Match
UPenn: Low Reach
Stanford: Reach
UT Austin: Match

Hey, i think you definitely have a chance with all these schools. However, a lot of these schools you’ve listed are all very prestigious so they’re reaches for everybody. I say NYU, Northwestern, Carnegie-Mellon, University of Notre Dame, Georgetown, Boston College, John Hopkins are all lower reaches than the Ivy league schools.

Great stats!

Ivies - in at some
University of Chicago -low reach
University of Notre Dame -in
Carnegie-Mellon -in
Northwestern in
NYU- in

i see a problem with your subject tests. you have 3, two of which are history and one is a language (if you are Korean then this wouldn’t really “count” and colleges don’t like that at all). i suggest taking another math or science SAT II.

your rank is not great so it might hurt for top schoools

Ivy’s and Stanford (especially Stanford) are hard to get in for Asians.
