various awards..great essays!..my favorite part
recs will be very good as well

parents emigrated here in 92 with my 3 sisters in order to give us a better chance at a good education

i did post this before in the chances board a while ago.. but i want to see opinions from here specifically

My opinion comes from D-Sr this year-WL at Columbia-SATs should be higher(hers were MUCH higher)---otherwise your stats seem to match--with competition fierce amongst female applicants due to high numbers born durning this time---consider Columbia--and keep others on the radar screen just in case.Good Luck-you have worked hard!!!

Take either Math 1 or 2 for an SAT subject test.

good chance. one advice i want to give you is to not write "i love NY" for the reason why you want to go to columbia. an admissions officer told me that they will just question why you didn't apply to the handful other "great schools" in nyc.

as a side note..
it would be nice if you could suggest what other schools i should apply 2

with so much engineering stuff under your belt, why not apply to SEAS instead? a little bit easier to get into and it seems your interests tailor better to it

also, ditto on raising the SATs, try for over at LEAST 2050...2200 would be much better

not sure where else u should apply until you can answer my first question about engineering

i actually did intend to apply to seas

ah...well then you'll have to major in an engineering discipline...biomedical or chemical would probably work well for you...do you plan on going pre-med?

as for other schools...i can tell you where i applied which might help:
Rennselear Polytech Inst.
Worcester Polytech Inst.
Cornell Eng.
Carnegie-Mellon
VA Tech (tho i was a VA resident at the time)
and MIT

wow... you went to the cornell thing? you must be good at getting into selective programs

im actually going this summer

..and i don't quite understand how one can be 'good' at getting into selective programs.... unless your being sarcastic
