hi im hoping for some RD chances.

GPA: 3.9
Rank: top 3%
Grade: 12
ACT: 28 (retaking in Oct)
SAT II: 780 (US History)
AP: 4 WH
5 USH
taking Macro, Stats, and AmGov this year

ECS
11 years of dance
2 years in NHS
7 years of trumpet playing
~200 hrs of volunteering at library, nursing home, and local schools
1 year of Link Crew (new to school)
3 years of Flags

Chances for regular decision admission are fair. ACT is low when compared to Northwestern's admits. Best hope is your 11 years of dance. Why Northwestern University? Your chances are much better ED if you articulate why you are a match with NU.

Reach even if ED... 28 ACT is too low probably.

Typically, I would agree that a 28 ACT composite score is too low for Northwestern University, but not in this case. The original post makes me want to know more about the applicant. 11 years of dance, high class rank and high GPA are strong factors favoring admission-- especially if there is a convincing reason as to "why NU". However, I do agree that RD admission odds are slim.

ECs and GPA are fine.
That ACT is really low for RD at NU (and maybe even ED).
Iffy

A lot of people have long-term ECs, high class rank, and a high GPA. Scores are sometimes what distinguishes certain applicants from others. Usually, you need to be pretty strong all-around with good EC's and scores I would presume...
